Wisdom is not acquired easily. But those who achieve it never give up until they reach their goals. The salmon embodies this. It is one of the reasons we use it as our logo. The salmon is a world traveller. Its journey from its birth in upland rivers then, a few years later to the oceans and thence, as an adult back to the fresh water of its birth, is a heroic one. And mysterious. For no one has yet discovered for sure how the salmon manages to navigate its way back to the place of its origins.

Salmon species are found throughout much of the world. Most, with some exceptions, journey between fresh, salt and fresh water once more, symbolising the salmon's capacity to pass between worlds which perhaps goes some way to explain the mythic powers that have been attributed to it down the centuries.

The salmon has figured strongly in many cultures over many continents, more often than not, associated with wisdom and knowledge.

The salmon is a potent symbol and while we do not deal in myth, we feel nonetheless that this remarkable creature goes some way to embodying our approach and our thinking. The determined achievement of goals and the ability to help others achieve their own dreams underlies much of what we are about.

Determined achievement of goals as the way to wisdom? Wisdom as the way to enlightenment? Well, we mustn't get carried away lest we forget that the salmon just tastes damned good too.
